Pluck the Day: 11-24-2015

Thanks for checking out Pluck the Day! A challenge to myself to post an original drawing/sketch/cartoon at least 5 days a week.

Here in the States we are only days away from Thanksgiving and the full breadth of the holiday chaos.  In order to help optimize my time during such a busy week, I went out to look for drawing prompts to help motivate me to keep Pluck the Day on track.  In my search I found the Spoonflower Blog, a site dedicate to cool textile design and custom fabric knowledge.  As someone who is an arts and crafts kind of guy at heart, this site looks like a ton of fun.  At some point they had posted a 30 day drawing challenge and their first prompt was CACTUS.  It was perfect.  Mother Nature has been turning the temps down in Northern Virginia, so I enjoyed sketching out the dry, warm scene.  The next prompt is Mountain.  I sort of nailed that one in this installment as well, but I have some ideas to make it fun and different for tomorrow.  Challenge accepted!

If you enjoy what I’m doing, then there are three ways you can help:

About OxenTrot

During the day, I am a mild mannered desk jockey who helps to manage a large IT company.  At night, I am a family man, who is insanely in love with his wife and a proud daddy to an amazing girl.  But in the pre-dawn hours, as most everyone else is still asleep, I am my alter ego.  During that time, I am: OxenTrot. Ox was a call sign bestowed upon me while I was an active duty United States Marine, mainly in tribute to the fact that I was a major gym rat. After 5 years and three tours of duty, I reentered the civilian world.  My call sign was replaced by my actual name but the Ox still lived inside. As I began to adapt to my new life, I also began to take on new adventures, such as starting a family, getting a “big boy” job and taking on endurance sports.
