The backstory: I’m nearly 40 and for some reason I think now is a good time to learn to be an artist. Sketch Pad is a collection of drawings I’ve done throughout the week. My time to draw is usually from 4-5 in the morning or from 9:30 at night until I can’t keep my eyes open anymore and crawl into bed. I have included everything. The good, the bad and the ugly, in order to remind myself that this is a process and it’s not about getting it perfect the first time…or the second….or the third…or… So here is some of the stuff from this week.
I don’t know why this idea popped into my head, but it did. I thought, hey, why not mash-up Johann Sebastian Bach and Batman? So when I made it to work the other day, I did a quick sketch and came up with this drawing. I am pretty pleased with myself. I posted it on my Instagram account with the description:
“I want to do a whole thing, to include a Batman theme done in the Baroque style. Or, in a triple mashup. Bach as Batman but the Batman theme music is done by Skid Row, because their lead singer’s name is/was Sebastian Bach. See what I did there?”
I actually have more ideas than that for this character. As you can see, I tried to do a “Bat Signal” but with a treble as the symbol. I didn’t like it so I scratched it. Just wait, I will have a whole One Shot on the adventures of Bach-man soon enough.
Just some other things I threw together that day:
A wall with exposed bricks
Another book, to add to skill set for future use.
