Anything Can Happen Wednesday: Super Craft Bros

Some days I just like to zone out by scouring crowdfunding sites and finding campaigns which I can support, by either sparing a few bucks or just sharing them on social media.

I found this one on Kickstarter.  It is a group of guys that make really cool handcrafted wall art that focuses on gaming and geeky fun.  You can find the campaign and see the great stuff the Super Craft Bros have to offer by clicking HERE or on any of the pics below.

They have three collections of six designs. Each collection is inspired by a different part of fan culture.

  • Superheroes
  • Gaming
  • Space Explores (a.k.a. Star Wars)

They already met their goal of $1,200 within the first week, but that doesn’t mean it should stop there, does it?  Nope. But be warned, too much of a good thing can be dangerous.  The team notes that they create everything by hand.  It appears that they will use the money to buy supplies in bulk, hence reducing cost.  However, if there is a huge upsurge in demand based on their Kickstarter, they may find themselves struggling to stay on schedule when it comes to fulfilling orders.

Short of sounding sadistic, I think this project should go viral in the geek community.  Honestly, I think any project that is homegrown and proudly represents the world of games and comics and Sci-Fi should be fully supported.  That doesn’t even take into factor how cool these things look.

So, despite the fear of sending these guys into an overload of work and delivery like some I Love Lucy Rerun, I encourage everyone to check out their campaign, especially the video.  It not only speaks about the work being done but nicely addresses the geek culture and how they came to be part of the fandom.

About OxenTrot

During the day, I am a mild mannered desk jockey who helps to manage a large IT company.  At night, I am a family man, who is insanely in love with his wife and a proud daddy to an amazing girl.  But in the pre-dawn hours, as most everyone else is still asleep, I am my alter ego.  During that time, I am: OxenTrot. Ox was a call sign bestowed upon me while I was an active duty United States Marine, mainly in tribute to the fact that I was a major gym rat. After 5 years and three tours of duty, I reentered the civilian world.  My call sign was replaced by my actual name but the Ox still lived inside. As I began to adapt to my new life, I also began to take on new adventures, such as starting a family, getting a “big boy” job and taking on endurance sports.
