It’s the weekend!!!! But before we checkout for a few days of rest and recovery, let’s look back at what we accomplished at the Adventures of OxenTrot this week.

Monday Cinema Club –This week we watched the ultimate in geek fantasies.  Batman vs Darth Vader.  Thanks to the great people over at Machinima and Bat in the Sun, we get to see an epic battle, between two super powers, without having to wait until sometime next year. Click here to read the review and watch the video in all of its glory.

  • Next Week: TBD. We haven’t decided yet. If you have any suggestions, please leave them in the comments area.

Bookworm Tuesday – This week we went subterranean with an amazing book called Wool – Part One (Silo series Book 1) by Hugh Howey. This story tells about a future where everyone lives underground.  In such a world, there are some things that should never be discussed.  For example, never mention that you want to go outside.  You can read the review HERE.

We also spent time preparing for new comics Wednesday, to include looking back at the current stories of upcoming releases.  You can find reviews every Tuesday, and a list of what will hit stores that week, at Comic Books.

  • Next Week: We finish the month with a book called…Crapkiller: A Thrilling Science Fiction Novella (The Solarian War Sage Book 0) by Felix R. Savage.

Anything Can Happen Wednesday – Anything can happen and those things sometimes come in a subscription box.  This week I opened up the July Nerd Block and found many, many wonderful things.  You too can see the great goodies Nerd Block sent out this month by going HERE.

  • Next Week: Who knows? I don’t.  Anything can happen.

Throwback Thursday – We looked back at one of my favorite TV shows as a child, The Secret City.  It was a space themed drawing show starring Mark Kistler as “Commander Mark.”  The goal was to teach children the techniques and language of drawing, with a focus on 3-D.  Come check out some of the fun HERE.

  • Next Week: Who can tell what I will find when I dive back into the storage locker?  Action figures, comics, trading cards or old games.

And that, my friends, is that for the week.  Have a great weekend and make sure to find time to go out and have some fun.

About OxenTrot

During the day, I am a mild mannered desk jockey who helps to manage a large IT company.  At night, I am a family man, who is insanely in love with his wife and a proud daddy to an amazing girl.  But in the pre-dawn hours, as most everyone else is still asleep, I am my alter ego.  During that time, I am: OxenTrot. Ox was a call sign bestowed upon me while I was an active duty United States Marine, mainly in tribute to the fact that I was a major gym rat. After 5 years and three tours of duty, I reentered the civilian world.  My call sign was replaced by my actual name but the Ox still lived inside. As I began to adapt to my new life, I also began to take on new adventures, such as starting a family, getting a “big boy” job and taking on endurance sports.
