New Comic Look Back (Weirdworld)

Weirdworld_Issue2_Cover Weirdworld #2 from Marvel Comics is hitting the shelves so we are going to take a look at all the craziness from last month. (Click here for a list of what’s coming out tomorrow.  We split the list into two groups: new single issues and new HC, TP, and Reprints.)

Arkon is lost in a very strange land.  He has been riding a river, trying to find his way home to Polemachus.  Along the way he has encountered monsters and other grave dangers.  Suddenly, the river feeds into a waterfall.  Arkon jumps to safety and discovers that the world he is in is a “damned floating island.”  He falls into great despair and decides to just walk off the edge of the world into the great unknown.  However, as he plummets, he gets tangled up with a flying dragon who is being attacked by ogres.  These ogres seem to be on a mission for some witch.

Weirdworld_Issue1_CoverArkon helps to defeat the ogres and hitches a ride on the back of the dragon.  As they fly, the dragon gets hooked on a line like a fish.  The pair of them get dragged down, into a sea.  Below water, they are snagged in a net, surrounded by underwater apes. Arkon’s fate is unknown, but we do learn the identity of the witch who has tasked the ogres with capturing a dragon.  It is Morgan le Fay and she plans to find Polemachus in order to teach Arkon a lesson for interfering in her plans.

In Issue #2 we hope to see Apelantis.  Will Arkon escape the sea?  Will he come closer to finding his home?  How do you add an underwater kingdom to the Weirdworld map?

About OxenTrot

During the day, I am a mild mannered desk jockey who helps to manage a large IT company.  At night, I am a family man, who is insanely in love with his wife and a proud daddy to an amazing girl.  But in the pre-dawn hours, as most everyone else is still asleep, I am my alter ego.  During that time, I am: OxenTrot. Ox was a call sign bestowed upon me while I was an active duty United States Marine, mainly in tribute to the fact that I was a major gym rat. After 5 years and three tours of duty, I reentered the civilian world.  My call sign was replaced by my actual name but the Ox still lived inside. As I began to adapt to my new life, I also began to take on new adventures, such as starting a family, getting a “big boy” job and taking on endurance sports.
