Everyone is anticipating Batman V Superman hitting theaters next year.  Some people are already labeling it as a pivotal movie in film history.  However, I don’t think the Great Detective taking on a god-like alien is as earth-shattering as many people claim it to be. Search your geeky souls, you know deep down inside that Bats V Sups is only a second rate matchup.  True legendary battles must traverse galaxies, far, far away. I mean, come on!  Superman’s strength comes from the Earth’s yellow sun, which charges him up like a solar powered battery.  Of course Batman can figure out a way to sap that energy from him.  Strength versus smarts?  The World’s Greatest Detective will always win.  Right Holmes?  But pit Bats against someone who is trained in the art of the Jedi.  A Sith Lord who uses the Force, which flows around us, through us even.  How is Batman going to be able to defeat something so incredibly mystical and powerful?  Yeah, I don’t know either!

That’s why Batman versus Darth Vader is the epic, grand master, top chef, heavy weight championship match of all matches.  Luckily for us, the challenge of pitting these two mega stars against each other has already been accomplished, thanks to Machinima and Bat in the Sun’s web series “Super Power Beat Down.”  This series is the ultimate in geekdom.  They select two characters (or a tag team of characters) to go against each other and let the fans vote on who should win.  We are talking about amazing battles, such as Wolverine vs Predator, Captain America vs Master Chief, and a mega matchup of Deadpool & Domino vs Joker & Harley Quinn.   When all of the voting is done, a short film is created to show the outcome.  These films are high quality and they do a great job staying true to the genre and the characters.

I can only imagine the chaos that occurred when the matchup of Batman versus Darth Vader was announced.  This is the ultimate geek debate that has no winner because these are the most beloved and admired fictional characters ever.  No matter who wins, we all win…and lose.  I can’t believe voting for this matchup did not break the internet.  I can assume it probably tore a few families apart though.  Honestly, I can’t blame them.  It just wouldn’t be fair for a believer in Batman’s superior intellect and wits to be forced to live with someone who thinks Darth Vader’s voodoo can undo the Dark Knight.  Unfortunately, it seems that there were many who were susceptible to the suggestions of the Dark Side.   In the end, Darth Vader eked out a win.

However, the race was SO tight that the film makers made two endings for this momentous battle.  One where Darth Vader stands triumphant and the second, where Vader is outsmarted by the Caped Crusader.  I like the second version better, so that is the one posted below.  However, you can find the original version HERE.

However, before watching, answer one question, which side are you on?  Leave a comment below and we shall see where loyalties truly lie.

About OxenTrot

During the day, I am a mild mannered desk jockey who helps to manage a large IT company.  At night, I am a family man, who is insanely in love with his wife and a proud daddy to an amazing girl.  But in the pre-dawn hours, as most everyone else is still asleep, I am my alter ego.  During that time, I am: OxenTrot. Ox was a call sign bestowed upon me while I was an active duty United States Marine, mainly in tribute to the fact that I was a major gym rat. After 5 years and three tours of duty, I reentered the civilian world.  My call sign was replaced by my actual name but the Ox still lived inside. As I began to adapt to my new life, I also began to take on new adventures, such as starting a family, getting a “big boy” job and taking on endurance sports.
