Friday’s Week in Review: Happenings around OxenTrot

The Verse, Fall of the Core: Netcast Zero (The Frontiers Saga), Atari + Minecraft, The Incredible Hulk Game with the Fantastic Four!, and more

It was another great week!!!! Here is a roundup of what we accomplished at the Adventures of OxenTrot and what we can expect next week.

Monday Cinema Club – This month we are going short.  So we are hunting down and watching short movies and fan films.  This week we watched The Verse.  In just 15 minutes this talented crew is able to expand the world of Firefly in such a way that it feels 100% authentic…and AWESOME!

  • Next Week: The Dark Knight takes on the Dark Side. It’s time to watch Batman vs Darth Vader.

Bookworm Tuesday – I reviewed Fall of the Core: Netcast Zero (The Frontiers Saga) by Ryk Brown. A Novelette set in the future where technology has been assimilated into every facet of life. Is this merger a blessing or hidden curse? You can find the story here.

We also spent time preparing for new comics Wednesday, to include looking back at the current stories of upcoming releases.  You can find reviews every Tuesday, and a list of what will hit stores that week, at Comic Books.

  • Next Week: We take a look at Wool – Part One (Silo series Book 1) by Hugh Howey. In the future, everyone lives underground.  In such a world, there are some things that should never be discussed.  For example, never mention that you want to go outside.

Anything Can Happen Wednesday – Anything can happen and those things can be found on YouTube.  Such as, Darth Vader at San Diego Comic Con Force Choking strangers.  We also take a look at how I am trying to merge old Atari 2600 games into Minecraft.

  • Next Week: Who knows? I don’t.  Anything can happen.

Throwback Thursday – We looked back at an old board game I remember playing as a child.  It was The Incredible Hulk Game with the Fantastic Four! Can you help stop the Hulk as he runs wild in the city?

  • Next Week: Who can tell what I will find when I dive back into the storage locker?  Action figures, comics, trading cards or old games.

And that, my friends, is that for the week.  Have a great weekend and make sure to find time to go out and have some fun.

About OxenTrot

During the day, I am a mild mannered desk jockey who helps to manage a large IT company.  At night, I am a family man, who is insanely in love with his wife and a proud daddy to an amazing girl.  But in the pre-dawn hours, as most everyone else is still asleep, I am my alter ego.  During that time, I am: OxenTrot. Ox was a call sign bestowed upon me while I was an active duty United States Marine, mainly in tribute to the fact that I was a major gym rat. After 5 years and three tours of duty, I reentered the civilian world.  My call sign was replaced by my actual name but the Ox still lived inside. As I began to adapt to my new life, I also began to take on new adventures, such as starting a family, getting a “big boy” job and taking on endurance sports.
