Anything Can Happen Wednesday: Atari + Minecraft

You know what may happen one of these Wednesday’s in the far future?  You may see scenes from your favorite Atari 2600 games recreated in Minecraft.  That’s right!  Images from beloved 8-bit video games captured in homage in a beloved modern day game that acts like an 8-bit video game.  Want a preview?

Here’s the classic game Fishing Derby.

And here is my Minecraft world.

And let me just note that I am using survival mode.  No freebies here.  I need to mine my own resources and battle all the nasties out there while recreating a childhood image.  I will be adding colored carpeting in order to provide the appropriate coloring for the image.  Right now I just need more yellow sheep.  Oh, and I plan to surround the image with glass and then filling it with water for authenticity.  I’ve already tested it to ensure that you can see through the glass and water in order to see the image.

Honestly, it may take years to finish, but it’s so much fun to map it out and then put it into pixelated reality.

About OxenTrot

During the day, I am a mild mannered desk jockey who helps to manage a large IT company.  At night, I am a family man, who is insanely in love with his wife and a proud daddy to an amazing girl.  But in the pre-dawn hours, as most everyone else is still asleep, I am my alter ego.  During that time, I am: OxenTrot. Ox was a call sign bestowed upon me while I was an active duty United States Marine, mainly in tribute to the fact that I was a major gym rat. After 5 years and three tours of duty, I reentered the civilian world.  My call sign was replaced by my actual name but the Ox still lived inside. As I began to adapt to my new life, I also began to take on new adventures, such as starting a family, getting a “big boy” job and taking on endurance sports.
