Look Back Tuesday (Black Canary)

BlackCanary_Issue2Black Canary #2 is hitting the shelves tomorrow so we are going to look back at where we left off the last time we saw Dinah an the band. (Click here for a list of what’s coming out tomorrow.  We split the list into two groups: new single issues and new HC, TP, and Reprints.)

In issue #1 we are introduced to Gotham City’s four piece band called Black Canary.  Along with their manager, Heathcliff, their lineup includes: Front woman – Dinah (also called D.D.),   Drummer – Lord Byron, Keyboardist and Tech Whiz – Paloma, and Guitarist and a mute – Ditto.  The band has a fresh new record deal and are out on the road promoting their album.  However, it seems like they can’t make it through a gig without violence breaking out, violence which seems to be focused towards D.D.  The band’s singer has a mysterious past BlackCanary_Issue1but we do learn that she lived with a sensei who trained her and she was once married.  She is on contract with the band and is signed up for only a few shows.  Then she plans to go back and rebuild her dojo and her team.

During their show at the Wizard’s Wand, three monsters appear in the crowd.  D.D. takes them out by using her ultrasonic scream.  Before escaping, the monsters tell her that “He will come for her.”  It turns out they meant Ditto.  The band decides to continue on with their tour but D.D. insists that she trains the rest of the band on how to take care of themselves.  We are left with an image of the band’s bus rolling off down the road, with some hitchhikers catching a ride as well.

What do you think we will discover tomorrow when Issue #2 gets released?  Will Ditto finally speak?  Will we find out who is after her?  Will someone in the band become a prodigy under Dinah?  Only one more day before we find out.

About OxenTrot

During the day, I am a mild mannered desk jockey who helps to manage a large IT company.  At night, I am a family man, who is insanely in love with his wife and a proud daddy to an amazing girl.  But in the pre-dawn hours, as most everyone else is still asleep, I am my alter ego.  During that time, I am: OxenTrot. Ox was a call sign bestowed upon me while I was an active duty United States Marine, mainly in tribute to the fact that I was a major gym rat. After 5 years and three tours of duty, I reentered the civilian world.  My call sign was replaced by my actual name but the Ox still lived inside. As I began to adapt to my new life, I also began to take on new adventures, such as starting a family, getting a “big boy” job and taking on endurance sports.
