Friday’s Week in Review (Batman Day Returns, Green Leader, Shatner and Wheaton drinking wine)

Happenings around OxenTrot

It has been another amazing week as I continue my adventure to Geekdom.  We reviewed The Neverending Story in our Monday Cinema Club, looked into chapters 7-9 of Brave New World for Bookworm Tuesday, spent Anything Can Happen Wednesday looking at geeky crowdfunding projects, and we spent Throwback Thursday revisiting the 1998 San Diego Comic Con.

Our homework this weekend is to watch the Kevin Smith classic Clerks.  We will be reviewing it for the Monday Cinema Club.  And don’t forget, Bookworm Tuesday will be tackling four chapters this week (10 – 14) of Brave New World as well.

Happening on the intertubes

Bamtan Day 2015

Following the success of last year’s Batman Day, which celebrated 75 years of Bruce Wayne and Gotham City, DC announces that Batman Day will return and may become an annual event.

“Batman Day will be celebrated at participating comic book shops, libraries and bookstores, and Batman Day-specific promotional items are scheduled to be available as part of the event.”

Green Leader Comic

Daniel Warren Johnson, freelance artist and creator of the online comic Space-Mullet, released a Star Wars inspired comic called Green Leader.  It was inspired by the space battle scene in Return of the Jedi and is AMAZING and free.  I suggest everyone check it out and show some love.

William Shatner and Wil Wheaton

William Shatner and Wil Wheaton drinking wine and talking.  Do I need to say more?  Go.  Watch it now.  Go now.

About OxenTrot

During the day, I am a mild mannered desk jockey who helps to manage a large IT company.  At night, I am a family man, who is insanely in love with his wife and a proud daddy to an amazing girl.  But in the pre-dawn hours, as most everyone else is still asleep, I am my alter ego.  During that time, I am: OxenTrot. Ox was a call sign bestowed upon me while I was an active duty United States Marine, mainly in tribute to the fact that I was a major gym rat. After 5 years and three tours of duty, I reentered the civilian world.  My call sign was replaced by my actual name but the Ox still lived inside. As I began to adapt to my new life, I also began to take on new adventures, such as starting a family, getting a “big boy” job and taking on endurance sports.
