Happenings around OxenTrot
This week was a lot of fun as we continued on the path to Geekdom. We reviewed Godzilla King of the Monsters in our Monday Cinema Club, looked into chapters 3-6 of Brave New World for Bookworm Tuesday, spent Anything Can Happen Wednesday looking at the Harry Potter universe, and tried to stay out of trouble when Mr. Casey Jones came out to play for Throwback Thursday.
Your homework this weekend is to watch The Neverending Story. We will be reviewing it for the Monday Cinema Club. And don’t forget, Bookworm Tuesday will be tackling chapters 7-9 of Brave New World as well.
Happening on the intertubes
Predictably, it will be in Leonard and Sheldon’s living room where everyone eats and talks (you can find the article here.) It is the corner stone of the show and would look great on the top shelf of the bookcase next to my….I mean next to someone’s collection of pogs from the 90’s. Hopefully they will release more sets. I would vote either comic book store or cafeteria at the university.
What do you think should be the setting for the next (if it comes out) Big Bang Theory Lego set?
X-Files begins shooting.
What more joy do you need in the world other than to know that Mulder and Scully are back together again (read more here.) I remember listening to the Nerdist podcast when Gillian Anderson was on the show and they came up with the whole #XFILES2015 campaign. In all honesty, I would not be surprised if this was an ongoing campaign which they just played up to make it sound new. You can listen to the podcast here. Either way, X- Files is back and they are on set!
The New Star Wars Toys are Here!
The A.V. Club came out with a great article about the new Star Wars toys being released for Star Wars: The Force Awakens (read more here.) The images are so cool (I’m not going to spoil them, you have to go to the article itself if you want to see what’s in store.) My first thought was “Man, they are packaged as if you are buying a new iPhone.” As an added bonus, they included a montage of old commercials for Star Wars toys. Here’s a piece of geeky trivia, Wil Wheaton appeared in two Star Wars commercials in the 80s. He wrote about it on his blog here.
So go read the A.V. Club article and drool with the rest of us.
Remeber to join us next week as we review The Neverending Story for Monday Cinema Club and continue our discussion of Brave New World with Chapters 7-9 on Bookworm Tuesday. Make it easy and just hit the follow button on the right side of this page to get the updates of when new articles are posted.
And that, my friends, is that for the week. Have a great weekend and make sure to find time to go out and have some fun.
If there are any articles that caught your eye or anything you want to share from the week (such as anything in regards to Sir Christpoher Lee) feel free to add them in the comments.
